I just followed this tutorial exactly and after I turned the layer into a mask layer, they do not reveal anything at all. How frustrating after just entering in over 100 dots! You would think there would be a easier method…

Yep, maybe after effects would be wiser to use for that type of animation. I rarely use this technique myself. But I noticed not many people at my site knew about it. But god it is tedious.

Thanks I was wondering how they did that. I guess with the adition of a nice Illustrator drawing you can really have something interesting.
Yep, I’ve made a few that have taken a solid hour to make using imported swirls and curls… but in the end it is really smooth and the hour turns out to be worth it for the unique feel you get… not many know about this… let alone use it…
OK how do I set a mask layer in after effects… I gotta watch some tuts now…

Making a mask in After Effects is soooo much easier. I have a project due tomorrow in my Flash class and this helps sooo much thanks a lot!!

oh god you can do it manually.. i did something like this … THROUGH CODE!! (it was hell!)
if i wanted to do the whole blade of glass without dotting across the whole bottom part and then up couldn’t i just tween a small square up the blade of glass and then mask it without constantly dotting? (please answer)
